Little Hummer Pattern

The White Eared Hummingbird is just one of the many hummingbird varieties that visit Sierra Vista each year. I chose it for its beauty and rarity. The Tepary blossoms from which it feeds will develop into the delicious and nourishing beans used as a food source by Native Americans for centuries. The Sierra Vista mountains form the back drop and are created with a simple turned edge appliqué technique. The leaves and blossoms are dimensional. The vine is satin stitched and just a bit of free-motion stitching is used to add texture and depth to the foreground. I hope you enjoy creating your very own “Little Hummer”.
