Shisha in the Wild Mini

Pronounce: She’-sha with the accent on the first syllable and a soft “a” in the second syllable. This pattern exists simply because I wanted to do something fun with mirror embroidery. The appliqué was done by machine but would be lovely by hand if that is your preference. The bird’s feet and top knot are free motion but could easily be done with standard straight stitching and some pivoting or by hand with a single ply of 6-ply embroidery floss. The manes and tails are dimensional for a bit of fun. Illustrated instructions for all hand embroidery stitches included. Shisha mirrors are available online and easiest to find on belly dancing costume sites, such as bellydance.com.Order ½” mirrors. Using black and brown batiks and leaving off facial features, tails, and mains will give a surprisingly sophisticated design.
